I had such a magical encounter with one white pelican in Kaukauna, WI as they were migrating through in late spring a few years back. I was there for an art show and scouted out the area for wildlife. I found many of these pelicans on the swift moving river that flows through the town. This certain bird would fly upstream and bit, float down to me and just stare at me. He paddled like crazy to stay with me, but eventually floated down to far, then fly up again. My heart was filled with the connection I had with this bird.
